The evolution of the American Web brand began in Sacramento, California in an old brick building just a few blocks from the State Capitol. James Barker (CEO) and Ed Williams (CTO) began working together in 1994, organizing digital data on CD-ROM. They authored some of the earliest productions in northern California, incorporating images and sound in an interactive media format. With the advent of the first Netscape browser the team began publishing digital content and organizing databases on the internet with Fortune 500 clients Kodak, AT&T, and Alps components, and managing high traffic sites for the California Lottery and Secretary of State Bill Jones.
Expanding on earlier innovations, James and Ed incorporated American Web in 2001, becoming a premier name in online software development. Acquiring the ArrowClick brand in 2002, American Web integrated its extensive code library into one of the most modular and cost-effective website management platforms of the decade. Demonstrating its versatility, ArrowClick was chosen by the California Republican Delegation as the software of choice to manage operations at the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City. By 2005, American Web was a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, expanding their expertise and services in providing technology consulting and office management solutions.
The recession of 2008 impacted business on a global scale, and the aptly named World Wide Web was no exception. American Web was faced with a new challenge of supporting their clients’ continuously growing technology needs, but with fewer resources. They saw the future in newly emerging cloud services and API integration: creating efficiency through automation. By reducing bottlenecks and enabling software and systems to communicate with each other, their clients were able to accomplish more with smaller budgets.
Today American Web is still dedicated to the success of their clients. Their services and expertise have grown into a well rounded suite of web products and services that compliment one another and make for better business for years to come.
“We sincerely believe you won’t find a web development company that meets our level of dedication to your project: we strive to be your concierge for technology.” - Ben Comroe, General Manager
