American Web Services provides full IT support at RNC in New York
NEW YORK, New York., Nov. 10, 2004 – Every 4 years, the California Republican Party sends a delegation of members to the National Convention to select the Republican candidate for President. This time around, the Delegation Committee used a new online process to select the delegates.
Prior to the convention, American Web Services deployed a comprehensive web site that allowed the Delegation to securely accept and review applications for the Convention. The California Delegation was supplied with ArrowClick Software to power the web site. American Web Services provides a managed server platform that includes domain, web, email, database and secure hosting. "Using the web to manage the application process made a big difference," said Dr. Dora Kingsley, Delegation Chairwoman. "It made managing the delegates in such a large state an easier process."
The Delegation was so pleased with the online application process, they awarded American Web Services the contract to provide on-site IT services in New York at the Republican National Convention. The California Delegation was housed in the Marriott Grand hotel at Times Square and American Web Services operated an internal IP network, phone system, and media center occupying most of the 7th floor.
California has the largest delegation at the convention, totaling more than 1,200 delegates, alternates, staff and families. "Dozens of Young Republicans assisted our staff," said Ed Williams, CTO. "They really helped us make a large, complex event much more fun and exciting."
