Horses Still Only Legal Online Gambling In California

Sacramento Harness Association inks 3 year live streaming video contract with American Web Services

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sep. 16, 2005 – American Web Services, Inc., a developer of Internet business solutions, has contracted to provide live streaming video of harness horse racing for the Sacramento Harness Association, the operator of the CalExpo Horse Racing facility.

One of the challenges to providing streaming media to the Sacramento Harness Association is the intensity of the schedule. "All of the video streaming occurs in the evening and on weekends nearly 200 nights a year," said Ed Williams, Chief Technology Officer for American Web Services. "Having a team of support personnel available around the clock will make sure things run smoothly." In addition to the real-time broadcasts of the racing, the streaming services will also provide replays for past races for patrons to view online.

"As the new operator for the Cal Expo track, we wanted to focus our attention on both the patron and the horsemen," said Chris Schick, General Manager of Sacramento Harness Association. "American Web Services designed a new web site to help us serve both groups well."

American Web Services has successfully developed and deployed Internet applications for a number of associations and organizations, including the State Building and Construction Trades Council, California Optometric Association, and California Congress of Seniors.
